Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions — Online Cookery Classes
Sloans Catering
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before booking. By booking a place on any of our online cookery classes, you agree to the following terms.
1. About Sloans Catering
Sloans Catering (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides live online cookery classes delivered via video call. These terms apply to bookings made through our website, by email or by telephone.
2. Bookings & Payment
All classes must be booked and paid for in full at the time of booking. Your place is not guaranteed until full payment has been received. Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive confirmation by email. Relevant joining instructions, ingredients and equipment requirements, and any preparation information will be provided before your class.
All prices are displayed in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Where gift vouchers are available, they are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and must be redeemed before the expiry date stated on the voucher.
3. Minimum Numbers & Class Changes
Some classes require a minimum of 5 participants to go ahead. If the required minimum number is not reached, we will contact you at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time and offer you either a full refund or a free transfer to an alternative date for the same class or a class of equivalent value.
We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to class content, recipes or tutors where necessary, provided this does not materially affect the overall theme or standard of the experience. We may also need to postpone or cancel a class due to circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where we cancel a class, you will be offered a transfer to another suitable date or a full refund.
4. Cancellations by You
If you cancel your booking within 30 days of the original date of purchase, you are entitled to a full refund. If you cancel more than 30 days after the original date of purchase, the booking is non-refundable and a 100% cancellation charge will apply. No refund can be provided once a class has commenced or has been partially attended.
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your place to another person free of charge. Please provide their name and details of any relevant dietary or accessibility requirements at least 24 hours before the class.
To request a cancellation or transfer, please email Sloanscatering@hotmail.com and include your booking reference.
Regardless of the cancellation period above, if Sloans Catering cancels your class because the minimum number of participants has not been reached, you will always be offered a full refund or a free transfer.
Unable to Attend
If you are unable to attend for circumstances not specifically covered above, please contact us as soon as possible. Although our standard cancellation policy will apply, we will consider reasonable requests made in good faith on a case-by-case basis.
5. What’s Included
Your booking includes a live, tutor-led online cookery class for the advertised duration, a recipe card and shopping/ingredients list provided before your class (typically at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time), and the opportunity to ask your tutor questions during the live session.
6. What You’ll Need
You are responsible for providing a stable internet connection, a suitable device capable of joining the video call (including a camera and microphone where interactive participation is required), all ingredients specified in your joining instructions, all necessary kitchen equipment, and a safe and suitable environment in which to participate.
You should ensure that you understand and follow basic kitchen and food-safety practices, including the safe use of knives, ovens, hobs and other kitchen equipment. Sloans Catering is not responsible for the cost of your ingredients or equipment, or for disruption caused by internet connectivity, device failure or other technical problems on your side.
7. Age Restrictions, Dietary Requirements & Allergies
Participants must be 15 years of age or older. Anyone aged between 15 and 17 must be accompanied and supervised by a paying adult throughout the class. Where an experience is specifically advertised as a children’s or Kids’ Class, children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Where a class involves alcohol, alcohol-related participation will only apply to participants aged 18 or over.
Please inform us of any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements when booking. We will do our best to advise on suitable alternatives or substitutions. However, you remain responsible for checking ingredients and ensuring that anything you prepare or consume is suitable for your individual dietary requirements. We cannot guarantee that any dish, ingredient or recipe will be completely free from a particular allergen.
8. Health & Safety
Cookery classes involve practical activities and may include the use of knives, hot pans, ovens, hobs and other kitchen equipment. You participate in these practical elements at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and the safety of anyone else present in your kitchen.
Please do not attempt any activity you do not feel confident or safe performing. Always follow appropriate kitchen safety practices and ensure children are properly supervised around knives, heat and other potential hazards.
9. Recordings, Intellectual Property & Conduct
Our classes, recipes, presentation materials and recordings remain the intellectual property of Sloans Catering and/or the relevant tutor. Materials are provided for your personal, non-commercial use only.
Unless you have received our prior written permission, you may not record or reproduce a class, redistribute or resell our materials, publicly share our class materials, or use our recipes, recordings or other materials for commercial purposes.
If we record a class for participants to access afterwards, access will be limited to eligible registered participants and may only remain available for a specified period.
All participants are expected to treat tutors and other participants with courtesy and respect. We reserve the right to remove someone from a class without a refund in cases of abusive, threatening or seriously disruptive behaviour.
10. Circumstances Outside Our Control
We will not be liable for a failure or delay in providing a class where this is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. This may include internet or video-platform outages, power failures, illness, extreme weather or other unforeseen events.
If these circumstances mean that a class cannot reasonably proceed, we will arrange an alternative date or offer you a full refund.
11. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot legally be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
Subject to the above, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses or for loss or damage arising from your use of your own kitchen, equipment or ingredients during an online class. Where permitted by law, our total liability in connection with a class will be limited to the amount you paid for that class.
12. Data Protection
We may collect and process personal information including your name, contact details and relevant dietary requirements in order to manage your booking and provide your cookery experience. Your information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation and our Privacy Policy.
We will not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.
13. Complaints
We want you to have a positive experience with Sloans Catering. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your class, please contact us at Sloanscatering@hotmail.com within 7 days of your experience.
We will review your concerns and, where appropriate, may offer a suitable resolution such as a partial refund, account credit or a place on a future class.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version of these terms in effect at the time you make your booking will apply to that booking.
15. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Client Booking Terms & Conditions
These Terms govern any booking made through the Sloans Catering website or platform (the “Platform”) for a private dining or event catering experience. By confirming and paying for a booking, you (“Client”, “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Our Role
Sloans Catering (“Sloans”, “we”, “us”) operates a curated platform connecting Clients with independent, vetted private chefs (“Chef Partners”) across the East Midlands, Derbyshire and the Peak District. Every Chef Partner has been personally assessed by Anthony Sloan through our vetting process, including a practical cooking assessment.
Sloans facilitates the booking, payment and quality assurance of your experience. The Chef Partner delivering your event is an independent contractor responsible for the preparation and service of your food.
2. Making a Booking
You submit an enquiry through the Platform with your event details, including the date, location, guest numbers, occasion, budget and dietary requirements.
We match you with a suitable Chef Partner, who proposes a menu and price. A booking is only confirmed once you accept a quote and payment is processed through the Platform. Quotes are indicative until this point and are not a guarantee of chef availability.
3. Pricing & What’s Included
Unless stated otherwise on your quote, the price includes menu planning, ingredients, cooking, plating and service, and kitchen clean-down at the end of the evening.
It does not include alcohol, hire of additional equipment, crockery, glassware or venue costs unless specifically agreed in writing.
4. Payment
Payment is taken securely through the Platform. Depending on the booking, we may require full payment at confirmation, or a deposit at confirmation with the balance due before the event. This will be made clear at the time of booking.
Your chef’s calendar is only reserved once payment, or the required deposit, has cleared.
5. Cancellation & Refunds
If you need to cancel a confirmed booking, the following applies based on the notice given before the event date:
More than 14 days before the event: 100% refund
7–14 days before the event: 50% refund
Less than 7 days before the event: No refund
This reflects the fact that your Chef Partner reserves their time and often purchases ingredients in advance of your event.
If Sloans needs to cancel or reassign your booking, for example due to chef illness, please see Section 10 below.
6. Changes to Your Booking
Requests to change your date, guest numbers or menu should be made as early as possible through the Platform.
Changes are subject to your Chef Partner’s availability and may affect the price. We’ll always confirm any change in writing before it’s treated as agreed.
7. Allergens & Dietary Requirements
You must provide complete and accurate information about any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements among your guests by the deadline confirmed with your booking, normally 48–72 hours before the event.
Your Chef Partner will take reasonable steps to accommodate declared requirements, but Sloans and the Chef Partner cannot be held responsible for reactions arising from undeclared or inaccurately declared allergies.
8. Kitchen & Venue Requirements
You are responsible for providing a reasonably equipped, clean and safe domestic kitchen with working appliances, adequate worktop space and access at the agreed time.
If your kitchen is not suitable for the confirmed menu, your Chef Partner may need to adapt the menu on the day. This may affect the experience but does not entitle you to a refund.
9. Conduct on the Day
We ask that you and your guests treat your Chef Partner with courtesy and respect.
Sloans reserves the right to end a booking early, without refund, if a Chef Partner’s safety is at risk, for example due to guest behaviour.
10. If Your Chef Partner Becomes Unavailable
In the rare event that your confirmed Chef Partner cannot fulfil your booking, for example due to illness or an emergency, Sloans will make reasonable efforts to arrange a suitable replacement Chef Partner of equivalent standard.
If no suitable replacement can be found, you will receive a full refund.
11. Liability & Insurance
Chef Partners on the Platform hold public liability insurance.
Sloans’ and the Chef Partner’s liability to you is limited to the amount paid for your booking, except for death, personal injury or fraud caused by negligence, which cannot be excluded by law.
12. Photography & Marketing
We may ask permission to take photographs during your event for marketing purposes.
This is entirely optional, and declining will not affect your booking or experience in any way.
13. Complaints
If anything about your experience falls short, please contact us through the Platform within 48 hours of your event so we can investigate with your Chef Partner and reach a fair resolution.
14. Data Protection
We handle your personal data, including any dietary or allergen information, in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We only share information that is necessary with your assigned Chef Partner to deliver your booking.
15. Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for failure to perform obligations due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including extreme weather, national emergency or government restriction.
Where an event cannot go ahead for these reasons, we will work with you on rescheduling or a refund.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
17. Contact Us
For any questions about these Terms or an existing booking, please get in touch via the contact details on the Sloans Catering website.
